The Great Escape

I started to think maybe Leo was getting too old for swaddling (or "the burrito" as Thea calls it). I didn't actually get any clues from Leo that he was done with it; it was more that I was tired of doing it. I read online and heard from other moms that a good way to transition out of the swaddle is to leave one arm out.

We tried that. Here's what happened after about 30 seconds:

Oh, well. I guess it's back to the burrito.

I swaddled Grace until she started rolling over. Then it was a rough couple of nights, but she grew used to being unswaddled.

Thanks! I tried one arm out again today and while he didn't try to get out and seemed to enjoy sucking his thumb, he wouldn't sleep! So we'll wait till the rolling begins!

Kai ended up breaking thru his swadddling blanket about 2 weeks ago, when he began to suck on his thumb. We kept swaddling him with one arm out, then both arms out, and just this week put him in one of those sleep sacks. He looks just as happy as the baby on the sack packaging! So I guess it works!
